How do I apply for a marriage license, what is the cost, who may officiate and where can I get married?
You may apply for a marriage license in person at either of our locations or online by visiting our website www.okaloosaclerk.com/, click Official Records at the top of the screen, scroll to the Marriage License link. An informational screen will open, you can scroll down to the Kiosk link at the bottom of the screen. NOTE: After your ceremony, the original license must be returned to the Clerk's office for processing to the Official Record. The address listed in the Kiosk for "Applicant 1" will be the address in which your Official marriage license will be mailed.
Previous marriage information is required for completion of the online Kiosk. You will need to know the ending date of the last marriage.
After submitting your personal information, a 7 digit transaction number will be provided. Each party must appear in one of our offices with a valid photo ID and bring the transaction number with you. The cost of a marriage license is $86.00. We accept cash, card 3.5% processing fee, or certified funds - no personal checks.
Our office processes marriage licenses in FWB from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and in Crestview from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Any Florida State residents who provide a certificate of completion of a Premarital Course the 3 day waiting period will be waived and the cost of the license will be reduced to $61.00. Both parties will need to take the class together. All other requirements remain the same. If you have not taken a premarital course and either party is a Florida resident your license will be effective 3 calendar days after application.
Premarital Courses in Okaloosa County may be found by contacting your Clergy/Counselor or completing an online search. If the counselor would like to get registered with our county, they may complete the Premarital Course Provider Affidavit MLS H.3 Course Provider Affidavit.pdf. The notarized affidavit may then be hand-delivered or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
A marriage license is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance. Your marriage ceremony must take place on or after the effective date and prior to the expiration date. Both dates will be listed on your license. Florida does not require witnesses to sign your marriage license, however, if you choose to have witnesses, they must be over the age of 18. Florida residents, who have not attended a premarital course must wait 3 days from the date of issuance. (Example: License issued 10/23/18 you may have your ceremony on or after 10/26/18).

If you are unable to have your marriage officiated prior to the expiration date of the license both parties must come into the clerk's office with the expired or soon to be expired marriage license. You may fill out an expired license declaration form and apply for a new license. A new marriage license fee will be assessed.
