Where do I file a Notice of Commencement? What is needed and what are the fees?

You have the option of coming in or mailing your notice to either of the clerk's office locations.

The Original Document is required and will be returned to you after recording has been completed.

Filing Fee: $10 for first page/ $8.50 for each after, we index 4 names at no additional charge.  Should the names exceed four it is an additional $1.00 per name.

Names are indexed as follows: owners names, bank name and contractor name. If owner and contractor are the same they will be indexed as one.  If there is a lessee authorized to make improvements and executes in that capacity, their name is indexed as well as the owner.

You may also file a notice of commencement through one of our 3rd party vendors. You may access the vendor list on our website at www.okaloosaclerk.com and selecting official records.

**If an individual is a law enforcement officer and their information through the property appraiser is confidential, a notice of commencement may have the street address redacted if the homeowner notifies the Clerk's office once the document is recorded and submits a completed notice of confidentiality form.  This notice of confidentiality will require specificity like the book and page number of the recorded NOC.**
