Is a bond required to file a writ of replevin?

Yes, any prejudgment writ of replevin requires a bond to be posted.

The amount of the bond should be twice the value of the property or two times the amount of the balance left on the note.  The bond may be cash or surety.

Cash bonds are posted in the clerk's registry and will require registry fees.  Fees are assessed at 3% for the first $500 and 1.5% for the remainder.

There is an $85 issuance fee for the writ of replevin.

If the Writ of replevin is Post-judgment, no bond is required. The $85 issuance fee remains applicable.
